What Inspired you to get into real estate ?
I’ve always had an interest in real estate but I did not know what area of real estate I wanted to pursue. I put the idea aside for a few years and pursued an accounting degree. However after I graduated I knew the Typical 9 to 5 was not for me so I decided to pursue real estate sales. Real estate gives you the flexibility and hustle that I was looking for.
Being that Brooklyn has become the new home owners hot spot on the east coast has business been booming ?
Business has definitely been booming. Brooklyn real estate is the fastest growing market in NYC and the entire country. The price increases we have witnessed over the past few years are staggering. There are many more Sellers looking to cash in on the hot market and many more Buyers looking to get a piece of the Brooklyn market.
Being that you are a Brooklyn resident , how do you feel about the gentrification going on in Brooklyn currently ?
The “G” word is a very touchy topic but just like everything else there are pros and cons. Personally, I am neutral on that topic because I experience all sides of it being in this business. The media only seems to focus on the negative.
I grew up here so I really feel for people who are being pushed out because of higher prices. However, I work with Sellers whose lives and families are changed for the better by Selling. People who did not have retirement now have a nest egg to pass on to their grandchildren. I will give you a quick story. An African American client of ours was a single father raising his son alone in Bed-Stuy. His home had been broken into a few times throughout the years. His son used to have trouble sleeping at night because he was fearful that someone was going to break into their home. Eventually, our client re married. His wife was from the suburbs and was not into city life as much. We sold their property for top dollar. Shortly after his wife gave birth to their new baby girl. A few months later i received a text from our client. It stated, “Thank you for getting us such a good deal on our property. The money has made a huge impact on my family and I. We can’t thank you enough.” Stories like that always let me know I am doing the right thing.
You have been pretty successful thus far in real estate , what is your next step?
I work for a big brokerage at the moment. I would say opening up my own brokerage. My business partner and I are actively working and building our brand in the industry. Right now we are putting in the work.
How early should men and women begin to think about purchasing homes or condos of their own ?
I would say the sooner the better. The moment you are able to qualify and purchase a property you can afford you should do it. Property is one of the biggest asserts anyone can own and when acquired correctly the benefits can last a life time.
Who or What influences your style ?
My mentor has definitely been the reason for my instant success. He threw me in the fire and showed me the ropes. I now take what he has taught me and try to add my own spin on it.
